James Matthew Barrie originally meant Peter Pan to be the bad guy and Caption Hook was the good guy. He was meant to be a lost boy that got away, in the book he kept some of Peters evilness (talking about killing pirates and "thinning out" lost boys who get too old) but his publisher made him change it do peter being the good guy and Caption Hook being the bad guy.
