The peculiar-looking shoes are inspired by Astro Boy, the protagonist of a manga series written and illustrated by Osamu Tezuka, published from 1952 to 1968 and later adapted for television. The character is an android who uses his shoes to fly, rocket-style. The boots, now replicated by MSCHF, are wide and come in a vibrant red color suitable for all ages.
