Recommended Settings and Troubleshooting:

The LoRA should work fine on ZIB's recommended settings: Sampler - dpmpp_2m, Scheduler - sgm_uniform, steps-25-28, CFG: 4.5-5.

Issues you may face:

a) grainy pictures due to the way William Eggleston's old analog film pictures are

b) loss of details or mutation, particularly w.r.t. fingers, again, due to the same reason as in a)

How to mitigate the issues:

Use a detailer like Z-Image Base-Add details by Ray3780 (at 0.6-0.7 wt), which may help to some extent.

Another issue, particular to TA: When you use multiple ZIB LoRAs, the output is a completely black picture. To deal with it try changing the checkpoint to something like 'Ultimate Z-Image FOR Realism AND NSFW by poakl. It might help.

Please note that the LoRA has been trained on really old and often grainy pictures, and there are limitations to how much the post-processing for training may achieve.

The Brief:

This LoRA captures the pioneering aesthetic of William Eggleston, widely regarded as the "father of color photography" as a legitimate art form. Eggleston’s work is famous for elevating the mundane—tricycles, red ceilings, and roadside diners—into high art through his unique "democratic" approach to composition, where every subject is treated with equal importance.

Visual Style Characteristics

The model is tuned to reproduce Eggleston's signature look, characterized by:

  • Color Process: The intense, saturated hues of the Dye-Transfer printing process and the distinct warmth of Kodachrome film.

  • Palette: Vibrant primary color pops (deep reds, yellows, and blues) often set against muted backgrounds.

  • Atmosphere: A mix of "cinematic suburban grit" and 1970s American vernacular.

  • Lighting: Natural ambient light, often featuring deep, high-contrast shadows and warm golden-hour or neon-cool color temperatures.

  • Composition: Unconventional, snapshot-style framing with low-angle perspectives that feel candid yet deliberate.

Training Methodology

  • Dataset: Curated from 100 high-resolution images of Eggleston’s most iconic works.

  • Captioning: Images were captioned using the Qwen VL Captioner with specialized system instructions to ensure precise tagging of film grain, color temperature, and specific compositional elements (e.g., "period-accurate 70s textures," "documentary realism").

Best Use Cases

This LoRA is ideal for generating:

  • Street Photography: Candid shots of everyday life with a retro 1970s feel.

  • Interiors: Wood-paneled rooms, eclectic decor, and domestic still lifes.

  • Portraits: Environmental portraits that feel raw and unposed.

  • Still Life: Ordinary objects arranged with dramatic lighting and saturated colors.

Usage Guide

  • Trigger Word: eggleston_style

  • Prompting Tip: Combine the trigger with specific lighting descriptors (e.g., "fluorescent lighting," "harsh sunlight") and subject matter (e.g., "vintage car," "suburban lawn") to best leverage the training data.

  • Use an LLM to refine prompt with the details of the natural setting of William Eggleston's era.
